A total number of 5,920 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) from Monday 15th November, 2021, to Friday, 19th November, 2021, in the Savannah region of Ghana. This comprises of 3,144 boys, representing 53.1% and 2,776 girls, representing 46.892%.
216 Junior High Schools contribute to the 5,920 candidates.
Speaking on Damongo based Radio Peace and Development (Radio PAD 95.1), the Public Relation Officer for Ghana Education Service in the Savannah region, Jatuat Kpirika disclosed that the Bole district records the highest number of candidates with 1,161 (584 boys and 577 girls) and North East Gonja district recording the lowest number of candidates with just 301 (200 boys, 101 girls).
The West Gonja municipal Chief Executive Officer, Musah Kusubari, GES regional director Mumuni Mbonwura, Municipal education director, Ake Ferguson, Municipal Coordinating Director, Philemon Ankorley, and other notable Officers inspected the exams taking place at Damongo SHS.
Below is the total break down of candidates and schools in the Savannah region for the 5,920 candidates and 216 JHS.
Bole district – 44 schools with 1,161 candidates (584 boys, 577 girls)
Central Gonja district – 37 schools with 1,069 candidates (597 boys, 472 girls)
East Gonja municipality – 36 schools with 1,082 candidates (539 boys, 543 girls)
North Gonja district – 12 schools with 367 candidates (218 boys, 149 girls)
North East Gonja district – 14 schools with 301 candidates (200 boys, 101 girls)
Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district – 43 schools with 1,034 candidates (544 boys, 490 girls)
West Gonja municipality – 30 schools with 906 candidates (462 boys, 444 girls).
A total number of 571, 894 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) from today, Monday, November 15, 2021, to Friday, November 19, 2021, at 2,158 centres nationwide.
A total of 531,707 and 517,332 candidates sat for the examination in 2020 and 2019 respectively
