(Damongo) – The Savannah regional coordinating council under the leadership of the regional minister, Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibril has sworn into office five (5) confirmed Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, 7th October, 2021, at the conference hall of the Regional Coordinating Council at Damongo where the Municipal chief executive for the west Gonja municipal Assembly ( Hon. Musah Karim kusubari ), District chief executive for Sawla-Tuna-kalba ( Hon. Barichisu Losina ), District chief executive for North Gonja ( Hon. Adam Eliasu), District chief executive for central Gonja (Hon. Iddrisu Salia Kamara), District chief executive for North East Gonja ( Hon. Mohammed Musah Tindow) were sworn into office to run the affairs of their respective municipal and District Assemblies.

Hon Muhazu

The Savannah regional minister Saeed Muazu Jibriel expressed his dissatisfaction for not having all the seven (7) MDCEs for the swearing in ceremony but five (5) MDCEs which for him, is not good to write home about of a small and growing region like the Savannah region.
He explained that though they did not have all the municipal and District Chief Executives confirmed, they can not also hold on to development awaiting the other two(2) Municipal and District Assemblies( Bole and East Gonja) to get confirmed before they start with development at the various District Assemblies in the region.

Saeed Muazu Jibriel urged the new municipal and District Chief Executives to take up the challenge to fight poverty at their various Districts to accomplish the president’s vision of making Ghana one of the greatest countries in the sub Saharan Africa by eradicating poverty which he believes, will enhance the improvement of quality education, health and also the reduction of insecurity in the Districts.

The minister further lured the new MDCEs to take advantage of some of the government’s good policies doted in and around the region such as; the planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, one district one factory, planting for export and rural development to help reduce poverty which he believe is of major concern in the various districts of the region.

He admonished the new MDCEs to collaborate with their respective Coordinating Directors, unit heads and departmental heads to be able to improve on the standings of their districts.

Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibriel concluded by urging them to go back to their respective offices and work hard to make sure they all score more than 95% on the local government ranking of MMDAs.

MDCEs

Hon. Adam Eliasu, DCE for North Gonja who spoke on behalf of his colleagues assured the minister that, they will tackle poverty collectively and that, the are going back to their offices to provide leadership and to bring together every little mind on board to ensure that they bring their expertise to bear to be able to develop their districts and savannah Region.

Present at the swearing in ceremony included, Council of State member for the savannah region Dr. Zakaria Adam kpongriwura, the Savannah regional NPP Chairman Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, the regional police commander DCOP Peter Baba, Municipal coordinating director for West Gonja Mr Petrol Ankorley, presiding members from the five confirmed MDAs, regional board chair for the minerals commission Dr. Sulemana Achanso and many others.
