The Local Accountability Network (LANet) in West Gonja has commemorated the 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day with a public education campaign aimed at equipping basic school students with knowledge on corruption and the need to uphold integrity in society.
The sensitization programme was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Anne’s Junior High School and Canteen Junior High School in Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.

The educational sessions were facilitated by Mr. Mbamba Mark Osman of NORTHCODE Ghana, who engaged students on the various forms of corruption and their effects on national development.
Participants were taken through key topics including nepotism, extortion, favoritism, embezzlement, fraud, and corruption. The facilitators explained how these unethical practices undermine fairness, accountability, and public trust, while encouraging students to become ambassadors of honesty and transparency within their schools and communities.

The programme forms part of activities organized by the Local Accountability Network (LANet) West Gonja to commemorate the 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day. It sought to raise awareness among young people about the importance of integrity, accountability, and responsible citizenship in the fight against corruption.

Organizers expressed optimism that educating students at an early age would contribute to building a future generation that values ethical leadership and actively rejects corrupt practices.
