Damongo – January 31, 2026.

Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, popularly known as Prof. Kalamonia, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to conduct themselves peacefully during the party’s ongoing 2026 presidential primaries, stressing the need for unity ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Prof Kalamonia – NPP Savannah Regional Chairman

Prof. Kalamonia made the appeal in Damongo after casting his vote at the Damongo Police Station Polling Station.

He urged party supporters across the Savannah Region and the country at large to remain calm and orderly throughout the voting process.
“I am calling on all NPP members in the Savannah Region and across Ghana to remain calm while casting their votes for their preferred candidates. We should all vote peacefully without any form of disturbance, because the party will rally behind whoever emerges as winner to win the 2028 general elections,” he stated.

The opposition NPP is currently holding its presidential primaries nationwide to elect a flagbearer for the next general elections. A total of five aspirants are contesting for the party’s presidential candidacy.
They include Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Adutwum, and Mr. Kwabena Agyapong.

Prof. Kalamonia also commended the media for their professionalism during the electoral process and appealed for balanced and responsible reporting, noting that fair media coverage would help promote the development and visibility of the Savannah Region.

A total of 4,230 delegates are expected to cast their votes today across the Savannah region.
