Ghana’s leading telecommunication giants MTN Ghana has empowered some selected small scale businesses in Damongo with the aim of bridging the digital gap and promote economic growth and development.
Artisans such as dressmakers, hairdressers/saloon owners, beauticians received massive boost on how to promote or market their brands using social media as part of MTN Ghana’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care. The training aims to support the artisans with practical skills for social media marketing and long-term economic benefits.The two-day training program saw participants equipped with how to use various social media/digital tools to promote their works and products to improve sales and increase revenue.

Kwami Aseye Akude, Manager for Retail Experience with MTN Ghana said the program provides opportunity for the staff to interact with various communities and to also, give back to society.
“The 21 Days of Y’ello Care is facilitated by MTN Ghana employees as part of our annual employee volunteerism activities. This year’s theme is “Connecting at the Root: Connecting Communities Through the Use of Digital Tools.”
This activity gives us the chance to connect more with society and to also give back to society as part of our social corporate responsibility, so want to reach out to the rural areas this year for overall impact”.
“We want to empower communities to fully participate in the digital economy by providing access to digital tools and training, we can help small business owners take control of their future and improve their economic prospects”.
This training on how to promote businesses through social media is to enhance their skills for medium to long term business development. This training will encourage them to share their crafts/products with the publics to increase growth, he added.
The campaign focuses on bridging digital inequity, particularly in rural, remote, and marginalized communities. During the 21 Days of Y’ello Care, MTN Ghana staff across all 16 regions will implement projects to enhance digital literacy, promote access to digital tools, and encourage innovative uses of technology for community development.
The 21 Days of Y’ello Care program was launched in 2007 and has become one of MTN Ghana’s flagship corporate social responsibility initiatives. This program brings together MTN employees annually to contribute to community development. The program has impacted lives across the 16 regions of Ghana.
The Damongo training is one of many examples of MTN Ghana’s resolve to promote digital inclusion and support economic development in local communities. By empowering small business owners with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the digital age, MTN Ghana is helping to create a more inclusive and prosperous society for all.
