The Mankpan Youth Association in the Mankpan Traditional area of the Savannah Region has warned that should their paramount, Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi I fails to relocate to Mankpan, the traditional capital of the Mankpan Traditional Area, he will face their wrath.

According to the youth, they are giving the paramount chief up to Thursday 25th May 2023 to relocate to the traditional capital of Mankpan or face their wrath.

The youth made this statement coupled with some concerns at a press conference on Friday, 19th May, 2023 through the Association’s Vice- chairman, Mr Ahmed Salia.

Read below the full statement of the youth Association as contained in the press release
Friday 19th May, 2023.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, thank you very much for your presence here this afternoon. Good afternoon to you all, and Jummah Mubarak to all of us. Selfless and committed members of Mankpan Youth Association, our revered chiefs and queens in Mankpan and across Gonjaland, distinguished members of the general public, our friends from the media, ladies and gentlemen.

This press conference was called by we, the youth of Mankpan purposely to let everyone, especially the good people of Gonjaland know the inhumane actions by a certain Mankpanwura Abdulai Sadik Achode towards the good people of Mankpan, and why we can no longer tolerate such abject nonsense from this Mankpanwura.

Ladies and gentlemen, you will recalled that in April this year, 2023 we, the youth of Mankpan petitioned the king and overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I to look into the misrule and gross misconduct of this Mankpanwura. In that petition, dated 7th April 2023, we raised three main concerns.

These concerns were as follows:He has sworn never to sleep in Mankpan, not to talk of staying in the community. He has vowed never to allow any development to take place within the Mankpan traditional area.He keeps insulting and disrespecting the people of Mankpan Traditional Area, the people he swore an oath to serve.

Ladies and gentlemen, the gross misconduct by the Mankpanwura has rather assumed an alarming proportion, after we petitioned the Yagbonwura to call him to order, and there is absolutely no end in sight. We therefore wish to state that enough is enough, and henceforth any attempt by him to treat we the people as slaves on our own land, shall be fiercely resisted, using every legitimate tool available to us.Such barbaric actions by a chief are completely unbecoming and highly condemnable.

By his shameless actions, he keeps dragging the name of the community and the traditional area in the mud. His unruly behaviour keeps bringing shame to the good people of Mankpan.Ladies and gentlemen, we want to use this medium to send this message across that if by Thursday 25th May, 2023 the Mankpanwura fails to permanently relocate to Mankpan, we shall follow this press conference with a very mammoth demonstration.

We wish you well and we thank you for coming.
