The king of Gonjaland and president of the Savannah Regional House of chiefs, Yagbonwura Sulemana Tuntumba Boresa I has called on members of the savannah regional house of Chiefs to be Ambassadors of covid-19 education to the benefit of the people of the Savannah region.
The king made this call in a speech read on his behalf by the Registrar of the Savannah regional house of chiefs, Mr. Abutu Kapori at an engagement with traditional Authorities at Damongo on Tuesday, 2nd August, 2022 to educate the revered chiefs on covid-19 education and how to promote peace in the region.
He explained that, reports available to him by the savannah regional health directorate as at 29th July, 2022 has it that, the region recorded 338 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with total deaths being seven (7) since the outbreak of the pandemic which indicates that COVID -19 is real and still with them in the Savannah Region.
The king further explained that being Ambassadors of the covid-19 education will benefit and as well have great impact on the people of the Savannah Region, hence the need for them as chiefs to contribute their quota to the fight against the covid-19 disease.
On Peace, the king called on participants to concentrate keenly and take into practice the various presentations on peace building so as to promote and enhance peace at their various traditional areas as ” Without peace,
nothing moves on”
Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II on behalf of the yagbonkura thanked the organizers of the workshop and called on the traditional Authorities to take the covid-19 education seriously as it’s still with them in the region.
He also urged the chiefs to seek development through peace and take the welfare of their people into consideration when dealing with matters of peace.
