The Municipal Chief Executive for the West Gonja municipal Assembly, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari on Tuesday,10th January,2023 visited some selected schools in the Busunu circuit in the West Gonja municipality to mark ‘My first day at School’.
The MCE was accompanied by the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Akey Ferguson, a deputy coordinating Director of the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Mr. Danis Osei and other delegations from the Municipal Education Directorate including the Busunu circuit supervisor, Rev. Fr. Govina Francis.
As a symbol of pupils first day at school, the day allowed the officials to interact with both teachers and pupils of the schools visited with fresh entrants receiving goodies to symbolize as a token for being present in school on the first day of the new academic year.
The West Gonja MCE had interactions with the kids on the importance for them to be very punctual at school at all times and the need for them to study very hard for a brighter future.
Interacting with a section of teachers and the education director at Busunu, the MCE assured them of his office commitment to support the educational sector in the municipality particularly in it’s monitoring activities.
The team distributed some assorted drinks and educational learning materials to the kids as a form of motivation to improve on school punctuality and the attendance of school children on the reopening of schools in the Busunu circuit.
Some of the Schools visited include; Busunu St. Peter’s R/C primary school, kojope DA/Kg primary school, Sumpini Kg primary school, Busunu D/A Primary School and Bonyanto D/A primary school.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Akey Ferguson has appealed to teachers in the municipality to be dedicated and committed to their work so as to help improve on the performance of education in the municipality.
He said the education directorate will be intensifying it’s monitoring activities across the municipality to ensure that teachers do not only go to school, but are supervised to carry out their duties as teachers.
