West Gonja MCE visit schools to inspect National Standardized tests for Basic 4 pupils in the west Gonja municipality.

The Municipal Chief executive for the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari has on Friday, 16th December, 2022 visited some primary schools in the Municipality to inspect and monitor this year’s National Standardized tests set for primary 4 pupils in all public schools across the country.

The MCE visited the schools in the company of the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Akey Ferguson and some officers from the Municipal Education directorate to assess and monitor the National standardized tests initiative by the government.

Hon. Musah first visited Jafo Primary School A & B, Almanara primary and later to St. Anne’s primary A & B, St. Theresa’s R/C Primary school and Canteen primary A & B schools.

Hon. Musah in his interactions with the students urged them to take their books and learning serious so as to become the future leaders of the municipality and also appealed to the teachers in the various schools to be dedicated to their work so as to improve on the standards of education in the area.

The Savannah Regional Director of Education, Hajia Katumi Natomah Attah who also went on a separate inspection and monitoring with the regional exams officers speaking to this source explained that, the essence of the standardized test is to assess the standard based curriculum by testing the pupils to know their levels and if they understand whatever that is given to them interns of teaching and learning.

Hajia Katumi added that, the test in actual sense is not a competition among schools but a practice to finger out the short falls of the pupils so as to put up the appreciate measures to improve on their learning outcomes.

Reacting to a question on whether the National standardized test is for only primary four ( 4 ) pupils, the regional Education director said, the National standardized test is not only for primary four pupils but also for primary 2 and 6.

The MCE was accompanied by the Municipal Education Director, the Municipal GES Gender officer and a Deputy coordinating Director from the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Mr Osei.
