The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for west Gonja Municipal in the Savannah Region, Hon. Musah Kusubari has cut sod for the construction of a 3-unit classroom block for the Nabori D/A primary School in the west Gonja Municipality on Thursday, 25th November, 2021.
The project which would be funded by the Member of parliament for Damongo, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor is expected to be completed within three months.
Damongo based community radio (Radio PAD 95.1) launched a crucial advocacy to get a 21st century school structure to save the lives of innocent school children for the area, as part of process to achieving Sustainable Development Gaol four (4), which demands Quality Education for all.
Hon. Musah Kusubari explained that, the dilapidated structure came to their attention during the 2020 elections campaign when the people of Nabori kept before them as one of the challenges facing the community.
He further explained that the structure is an old building put up in 1983 and was later roofed and plastered by the former member of parliament for Damongo, late Hon. Alex Seidu Sofo.
He noted that two weeks ago, he visited the school and having seen the state of the building, he prompted the headteacher of the school not to allow the continuous usage of the structure due to it’s dilapidated state and that, plans were far advanced to replace the structure with a new building by the Member of parliament for the area, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor.
Hon. Musah Kusubari added, no government in the 4th republic has given the people of Nabori much attention in education as compared to the New Patriotic Party, pointing out that all the school structures in the community were put up by the New patriotic party and the current 3-unit classroom block which he had cut sod to be constructed for the community in the next three months will enable children in the area to attend school and to learn in a conducive environment.
The MCE pleaded with the people of Nabori to cooperate and give out the needed support to the contractor in order for the project to be completed on time.
Members of the Nabori community expressed gratitude to the Member of parliament, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor for his Swift intervention in providing the community with a 3-unit classroom block to be completed in the next three months and that, the building will go a long way to enhance teaching and learning in the community.
