The Paramount Chief of Kusawgu Traditional Area in the Central Gonja district of the Savannah region, Kusawguwura Bunyanso II Alhassan Soale has appealed to royals belonging to the four (4) gates of the Kusawgu skins to unite and solve all succession challenges the area is faced with and therefore, calling for a meeting on 26th March, 2021.
Kusawguwura Bunyanso II made this call at a colourful outdooring ceremony on Sunday March 21, 2021, after he was enskinned as the Kusawguwura on 20th March, 2021.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Secretary, Asmiu, Kusawguwura Bunayaso II said “for me, I believe the greatest barrier to peace is succession disputes among the four royal gates of Kusawgu namely; Soalepe, Adamape, Mumunipe and
Jakpape. We cannot achieve absolute peace if we do not meet as royals with our king-makers and take decisions and together enforce those decisions.
I am therefore using this august platform in inviting all the four Royal gates and all the
king-makers on Friday 26th March, 2021 to my palace for us to lay foundation blocks to ensuring total peace and amicable solution to our succession issues in our Traditional Area”.
He added that ” the total development of the Kusawgu Traditional Area will be supreme in my reign as the Overlord and I intend to achieve this through effective collaboration with Central Government, the District Assembly, NGOs, Philanthropists and the good will from my palace to ensure the overall development of my jurisdiction “.
The former Yapeiwura also disclosed that this is the first time in some 54 years that a royal from the Soalepe gate rose through the ranks to Kusawguwura skins.
Today marks yet another historic mile stone in my life and that of Kusawgu. It is being 54 years since a royal from the Soalepe gate last went through the ritual of ascending the royal skins of Kusawgu.
Today I step in the Shoes of my Father, Kusawguwura Soale Bunyanso I of blessed memory who ascended the high Office of the Paramount Chief of Kusawgu in 1967.
Kusawguwura Bunayaso II Alhassan Soale also called for peace and unity to achieve development. To him, the area cannot achieve the needed development if there is no peace.
“It is common knowledge that there is a strong
co-relation between peace and development. Therefore, it is obvious we cannot achieve the needed developments we seek as Paramountcy if we fail to ensure the existence of peace and unity among ourselves. The Kusawgu paramountcy is
heterogeneous. Thus, different tribes are co-existing and engaged in different economic activities. I would therefore urge all to continue to give mutual respect
to each other for peace to be maintained. As humans, conflicts may arise and in such situations, family ties, chiefs, the police, opinion leaders and my palace should be consulted to have them resolved. Let us all show keen interest in the development of the Paramountcy”.
The kusawguwura Bunayaso II appealed to government to help fix roads in the traditional area, build Senior High School, extend electricity, construction of health centers among others.
The program was attended by the hon Savannah regional minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibril, the Members of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu and Damongo constituencies John and Samuel Jinapor, regional party executives for both NPP and NDC, heads of departments, chiefs across Gonjaland, NGOs, CSOs, companies among others.
