The Savannah Regional office of the Ghana National Fire Service ( GNFS ) has appealed to the Management of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company ( NEDco ) to as a matter of urgency restore back power to their offices in Damongo.
According to the Regional Fire officer ACFOI Emmanuel Ofori Adjei, the situation is worrying as it is posing the lives and properties of residence in the area at risk.
ACFOI Emmanuel and his team made the appeal on Radio for Peace and Development (PADFM) on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023 in a live radio discussions whilst sensitizing the public on this year’s international fire fighters day.
He indicated that, the Savannah Regional office which also has the Municipal office in the same building has been in total darkness for the past one week following their disconnection from the National grid by the Northern Electricity Distribution company.
He also revealed that the sad development has completely shutdown their communication gadgets hence the inability of residence to reach out to them when the need arises and therefore pleaded with the management of NEDco to restore power back to their offices to enable them to continue with their statutory responsibility of firefighting and rescue operations in the area in other to safe lives and properties of residence.
He also made a passionate appeal to all stakeholders, politicians and other benevolent organizations in the region and beyond to come to their aid, as their management in Accra works towards make payments to NEDco.
Meanwhile, the regional officers has made several visits to NEDco to resolve the situation but all has been fruitless
As they mark international fire fighters day with several activities lined up, management of the service also took their time to educate the public on Bush fires, Domestic fires and Road traffic accident management among others.
