The Paramount Chief of Nkoranza Traditional Council, Okatakyie Kwame Baffoe IV, said residents of the Bono East Region was indebted to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo for his promise to establish a fully fledge University for the region.
According to the Paramount Chief,the university when established, would concentrate on Science and Technology to help facilitate health delivery and agriculture production in the region.
Okatakyie Kwame Baffoe IV disclosed this on Sunday at Nkoransa in an interview with the Ghanaian Times Newspaper.
The Paramount Chief said when President Akuffo – Addo paid a courtesy call on him as part of the President’s two – days official visit to the Bono East Region, his promise to residents of the region was heart warming.
President Akufo – Addo, during his visit informed the gathering that, the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu – Gyan had already put in place an advanced preparatory works towards the accreditation of the university to be established.
The President who was responding to a request made to him by the Paramount Chief, to have the Nkoranza Technical Institute and the Kintampo College of Health and Wellbeing upgraded to a university said “you must support the Regional Minister’s initiative”.
President Akufo – Addo noted that he would engage the Minister of Education, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum to ensure the commencement of the project.
Okatakyie Kwame Baffoe IV said the Bono East University would be a landmark legacy from President Akuffo – Addo for the people of the region adding that we shall all provide our support to the project.
