The Savannah women integrated development agency (SWIDA-Gh) on Sunday, 2nd October, 2022 distributed some cooperative certificates to some beneficiary women farmer’s groups at Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the savannah region.
SWIDA-Gh is an NGO operating in the Northern and savannah regions and other parts of Ghana distributed the certificates to their Village saving and loans Associations ( VSLA ) groups who registered for the certificates some few months ago.
The exercise was carried in partnership with the world food programme, the implementers of the sustainable livelihood improvement project in the municipality including some other five districts in the northern region namely; Nanton, kumbungu, mion, and savelegu enabling several women farmer groups to benefit from the project.
The beneficiary communities that received the cooperative certificates included women groups from mempeasem, jonokponto, Bonyanto, soalepe, laribanga, Yagbon Kura , Alhassan kura and Damongo canteen communities respectively.
At a short darbur to present the certificates to the various women groups in their respective communities, Mr Nashirudeen who is the northern regional staff of cooperative certificates in tamale, urged the women to be proactive by making good use of the certificates as there are a lot of opportunities that can be graped by them.
He also appealed to them to use the certificates to apply for government supports through the ministry of Agricultural, the municipal assembly, the social welfare office, community development offices, rural enterprise office, business advisory office, MP office, world vision, Northcode Ghana.
Mr mahama Bradiso Seidu on behalf of the women thanked SWIDA-Gh and the world food programme as well their partners such as the Municipal health directorate, mofa , social welfare and the department of cooperative for their timely support to the project.
He also thank all the women groups for their cooperation and the trust vested in him.
