Tuesday the 16th of September, 2025 will be remembered by the chiefs and people of Damongo for all the shocking reasons as a new born baby was found in a refuse site at the Hangaline Community.
Assembly man for Hangaline/Ngbaripe/Alhassankura electoral area, Kumartey Gordon (DJ Flenxy) has confirmed the incident and described it as very shocking.
He explained that the baby boy was found wrapped in a cloth and placed in a black polythene bag, dumped at a public refuse site in the Hangaline Community with parts of its umbilical cord still attached to the navel and wrapped in a blood-stained white cloth.
According to the assembly man, an eyewitness informed him the baby was found wrapped in a cloth and left helpless in the middle of household waste dumped at the site.
He noted that the eyewitness sent domestic waste to the site in the morning when she heard a baby crying . Socked by the incident, she quickly got duty bearers informed and officials from the Environmental Health, led by madam Saaka Laadi, picked up the baby and sent it to the St Anne’s Hospital in Damongo.
The assembly man and his team visited the baby at the hospital and interacted with the care givers at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The incident has since been reported to security agencies for investigations.
