Damongo, Savannah Region, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, in collaboration with its subsidiaries and key stakeholders, has successfully organized a peace procession in Damongo to promote peace and unity before, during, and after Ghana’s upcoming elections.
The event, which took place on 28th November, 2024, brought together staff from various Zoomlion subsidiaries, including the Damongo Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant (IRECOP), SIP personnel, sanitation guards and other members.
The Savannah Regional Security Services and media representatives were also in attendance, contributing to the event’s peaceful and impactful nature.
Speaking during the event, Pastor Kenneth Kwakye Marfo, the Damongo District Minister, emphasized the dual significance of the exercise as both a spiritual and physical activity. “As we walked and shared the Word, many hearts were touched. At the same time, we were engaging in physical exercise, which is essential for our well-being,” he remarked.
The procession, which included moments of prayer and thanksgiving, provided an avenue to encourage Ghanaians to uphold peace and unity. “Ghana is the only country we have, and the Savannah Region is our home. Let us maintain the peace we enjoy,” urged Salisu Abdul Mubarik, Savannah Regional Coordinator of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
Mr. Isaac Bakuoro Suutonee, Operations Manager for Damongo IRECOP, highlighted the event’s purpose, describing it as an annual tradition by Zoomlion to thank God for His blessings and guidance throughout the year. “This year’s Thanksgiving is unique. It is a moment to reflect on how far God has brought us and to commit ourselves to peace and prosperity,” he stated.
The program also served as an opportunity to reinforce Zoomlion’s commitment to peaceful elections. Participants were encouraged to cast their votes early, avoid provocative behavior, and celebrate results with moderation. “Where there is peace, there is development and prosperity. Let us be peace-loving people,” Salisu Abdul Mubarik added.
The peace procession culminated in prayers for the nation, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, and its leadership. Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to spread goodwill and contribute to a peaceful electoral process.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited continues to demonstrate its dedication to environmental sustainability, community development, and social harmony. This year’s procession further solidifies its role as a corporate leader committed to peace and progress in Ghana.
