(Daboya) – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the savannah region has on Friday, 1st October, 2021, held it’s maiden Regional Delegates Conference at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the savannah region in accordance with article 9 of the party’s constitution.
In a welcome address, the savannah regional chairman, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu acknowledged the contributions made by, party sympathizers, polling Station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives and regional executives led by his able self and some government appointees that saw to the changed of narrative leading to the current state of the New patriotic party in the savannah region thus; rising from zero(0) parliamentary seats in 2012, one(1) parliamentary seat in 2016 and three(3) parliamentary seats in 2020, in a region that was considered a strong hold of the NDC.
Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu urged members of the party in the region to be more formidable and united to consolidate the gains of president Nana Akufo-Addo’s Administration to enable the NPP stay in power beyond 2024.
He thanked the national executive board for recognizing the contributions of the savannah region in retaining president Akufo-Addo in office by choosing the region as the start off point of the party’s regional delegates conferences set to take place in all the regions in the country.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. John Boadu in his address expressed gratitude to the people of the Savannah region for their tremendous performance at both parliamentary and presidential results in the 2021 general elections, a reason for which the leadership of the party choose the savannah region as the start off point of the party’s regional delegates conferences set to take place across the country in the coming days.
Mr John Boadu further acknowledged the efforts of the Savannah region for exceeding a 60,000 votes target set for the region to gain up to a total of 80,000 votes in the 2020 general elections.
He added that, Daboya/Mankarigu, Salaga North and the Damongo constituency seats which use to be a strong hold of the NPP under the Late Hon. Alex seidu sofo were targeted seats of the party in the run off to the 2020 general elections and that, he is very happy the region was able to chalked success by grabbing the seats back.
He thanked the member of parliament for the Damongo Constituency and minister for Lands and Natural Resources for his role played towards the success and is very optimistic that Hon. Lawyer Abu Jinapor will maintain the Damongo seat for so many years.
He also called on members of the new patriotic party to get their names captured in the membership register of the party at their respective polling stations. He added that though the registration processes were scheduled to end on the 30th of September, compilation works are still ongoing.
Mr. John Boadu again thanked all delegates from the seven constituencies in the savannah region for holding successful constituency delegates conferences across the region and disclosed that, the National Delegates Conference of the party will be held in Kumasi in the Ashanti region from 18th December, 2021 to 20th December, 2021 .
The Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency and minister for lands and natural resources, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor expressed gratitude to the national executive board of the party for joining them in the Savannah region for the region’s delegates conference.
The minister explained that the infant Savannah region and the people of Gonjaland have been more represented in president Akuffo-Addo’s government than any other government in Ghana ranging from Ministers, Deputy ministers, deputy CEOs and the executive.
He further explained that the NPP in the savannah region will fight for every vote in the 2024 elections in all seven constituencies in the region and therefore calling on members of the NPP to prepare to fight for every political space and vote across the country for the NPP in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Habib Iddrisu), former deputy ambassador to china ( Dr Charles Dwamena), National youth organizer of the NPP ( Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye) and many others.
