The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakilu, has commissioned a mosque he built in honour of his late father, Nana Adamu.
The commissioning ceremony was held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
The ceremony, spearheaded by Sheikh Mim Abdulai Mustapha, brought together Muslim clerics and worshippers from across the seven municipal and district areas of the Savannah Region.

In an emotional message, Mr. Mutawakilu expressed appreciation to all those who contributed to the successful completion of the project. He said the commissioning marked the fulfilment of a 28-year-old mission inspired by his late father, Nana Adamu.
He urged Muslims and residents to remain steadfast in their faith and continue praying for President John Mahama to enable his administration to succeed in its development agenda.
Mr. Mutawakilu also disclosed plans to extend his Islamic charity initiatives beyond Damongo, assuring that other communities across the Savannah Region would benefit from his charitable activities.
The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Bi-Awurbi, called on Muslims to continue praying for President John Mahama, Ghana and its leadership.
He described the mosque project as a significant demonstration of Mr. Mutawakilu’s commitment to Islam and his faith.
The NDC Savannah Regional Chairman, Alhaji Imoro Man Blessing, thanked the Islamic clergy for their prayers and support for the government. He appealed to them to continue praying for President Mahama and his administration.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by a large gathering of Muslim clerics, traditional leaders, political representatives and members of the public.
Prayers were also offered for the peaceful repose of the souls of the late Dr. Dramani ECOMOG, former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Alhaji Muniru Limuna, and other departed souls.
