In an extraordinary Traditional Council meeting held on 25th April, 2024, Mr. Kapor Abutu, the outgoing Registrar of the Gonja Traditional Council, delivered a heartfelt farewell message, reflecting on his tenure and achievements during his service.
Addressing His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, esteemed council members, chiefs, staff of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, the media, and attendees, Mr. Abutu expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Gonja Kingdom.
He highlighted the privilege of working alongside dignified personalities and institutions dedicated to building and upholding the values of the Gonja Traditional Council.
During his tenure, Mr. Abutu recounted several remarkable milestones achieved under his leadership. Notable accomplishments included the construction of a fence wall, paving of the Jakpa Palace, molding of architectural designs for Nyange redevelopment, and the expansion of the palace hall. Additionally, the submission of a petition for the creation of the Savannah region resulted in its establishment, marking a significant achievement for the council and the Gonja Kingdom.
Mr. Abutu also emphasized on initiatives such as the donation of textbooks to Senior High Schools and the asphalting of the Jakpa palace grounds, which contributed to creating a dignified and serene environment for council activities.
One of the standout achievements highlighted by Mr. Abutu was the facilitation of the first honorary award of a Professorship to the late King Yagbonwura Professor Tuntumba Bore Essa I from the University of Trade and Economics, Ukraine, in recognition of his contributions to peace and development.
Transitioning to his new role as the Registrar of the Savannah Region House of Chiefs, overseeing six traditional councils, Mr. Abutu pledged to continue advocating for the preservation of customs and the advancement of the Gonja Kingdom.
He appealed for unwavering support for his successor and urged forgiveness and unity for any unintended conflicts during his tenure.
