RE-WEST GONJA MCE MUSAH KUSUBARI CUTS SOD FOR A 3-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK FOR NABORI
The attention of the Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Damongo constituency has been drawn to the content of a misleading news publication on the above heading, filled on PAD FM online website by Kumatey Gorden and shared on the PAD FM WhatsApp platform among others on the 26 of November,2021.
It is well to note that, we in the NDC share the refreshing news of sod cutting ceremony that we anticipate will lead to the construction of a 3-unit classroom block for the people of Nabori.
This delayed action became necessary after the Assemblyman of the area cried out to the public for support, after several attempts to get the assembly to come to their aid proved abortive.
In as much as we commend the late action of our Municipal Assembly, which has been on perpetual hibernation for a long time, we wish to draw the attention of the reading public to certain deliberate contradictions, misleading statements, half truths and untruths peddled by the Municipal Chief Executive during the ceremonal sod cutting ceremony.
To set the records straight,we read rather sadly a statement attributed to the MCE to the effect that all the school structures in the Nabori community were put up by the NPP and that, no government in the 4th Republic has given the people of Nabori much attention in education as compared to the NPP.
This assertion by the MCE is completely false, lame and misleading.
It must be placed on record that the teachers’ quarters which is one of the school structures was constructed by the NDC led by Hon. Adam Mutawakilu Garlus, during his tenure as the DCE for the West Gonja District. This particular school structure came with complete furnishings i.e.: beds, wardrobes sofers, etc.
Electricity was extended to the school under the same Hon. Garlus as MP during the tenure of the NDC.
All these infrastructure projects helped to ensure that teachers are able to stay in the community and teach the children. It ensured punctuality and reduced absenteeism, which are all ingredients for proper quality education.
The name of the contractor who executed the quarters project was Alhaji Imoro Seidu alias Man – Blessing, who is the current Savannah regional chairman of the NDC.
The first occupant of the structure was Mr Adams Mahama (Graduate), who was the headmaster then.
All these records can be cross – checked at the Municipal Assembly.
We therefore expected our MCE to always get his facts right before churning out misleading information just for political expediency.
Another statement by the MCE which we find contradictory is that, the project for which sod was cut was captured in the 2022 composite budget of the assembly and in the same vain, the MP for Damongo issued a check for the construction of that project.
The critical questions emanating from this contradiction are: if indeed, the project was captured in the assembly budget, does that not make it an assembly project? How will he now try to bring the name of the MP into it?Also, if a sod is cut, what is the name of the contractor who is going to execute the project? What is the contract sum? Is it not proper for the MCE to provide us with these vital information?
Has the MCE continued with their campaign strategy of falsely crediting assembly projects to the MP or is it the usual scam of the NPP government which engages in 419 sod cutting?
Another misleading statement in the said publication was that, the dilapidated school block which was constructed in 1983 has never seen any renovation and that it was only the late Hon. Alex Seidu Sofo who roofed and plastered it sometime ago.
Again, this is misleading. The soul of the revered late legislator cum Chief rest in peace.
The school block was actually renovated by the Catholic support team in the diaspora specifically the Germans.
It is worthy to note that the NDC and Hon. Garlus holds superior and impeaccable record as far as the overall development, education inclusive of the Nabori community is concerned.
Among some of the interventions of Hon. Garlus and the NDC include but not limited to; a warehouse project,a gari processing plant, electricity, borehole, solar panels, streetlights and the now abondoned EDIF project.
We noticed quite recently the drama of stealing project when the MP went round and dishonestly credited some projects to himself as if he directly funded those projects. A critical example is the Mognori CHPs which was fully contructed and funded by the assembly, mechanised boreholes fully funded by MC Dan foundation and the Mempeasem school block constructed by the same MC Dan foundation.
We hereby call on the MCE not to follow the footsteps of his predecessor who used to steal District Assembly projects to the credit of the MP. He should chart a new course and render what belongs to Caesar to Caesar.
We will therefore use this opportunity to commend the Assemblyman for the Nabori-Yipala electoral area,Hon. Iddrisu Abdul Rahman for his tireless efforts in bringing this issue of the school block into public domain which caught the attention of various stakeholders to come to the aid of the community and to rescue the students and teachers from the looming danger.
Thank you
