The Omanhene and President of the Abease Traditional Council, Obrenpong Kru Takyi II, has called on members of the Zabrama community to strengthen their longstanding ties with Abease by investing in the traditional area’s abundant economic opportunities.
Speaking as a special guest at this year’s Zarmai Annaamai Festival held at Fadama Park in Accra, Obrenpong Kru Takyi II—who also serves as the Vice President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs—emphasized the historical bond between Abease and the Zabrama people, urging them to see Abease as their ancestral home and a land of promising prospects.

“In the history of Ghana, it is only in Abease that we have an entire community called Zabrama, which has become one of the key business hubs of our traditional area,” he said. “As we celebrate today, I urge all well-to-do Zabrama’s to remember Abease as your home. Do well to invest in Abease and invite investors to join you. Abease is blessed with vast arable lands, and I assure you that anyone who invests in Abease will never regret doing so.”
This year’s festival was held under the theme: “Promoting the Culture and Heritage of the Zabrama: The Role of Traditional Chiefs in Combating Drug Abuse Within Our Communities.” It drew participation from prominent traditional leaders across Ghana and other West African countries including Niger, Mali, and Nigeria. Also in attendance were high-ranking security officials such as COP Mohammed Fuseini Suraji, Director-General of the National Patrol Department, and COP Iddi Lansah Seidu, Director-General of Welfare at the Ghana Police Service.

Addressing the gathering, COP Suraji raised serious concerns about the increasing use and peddling of drugs within Zongo communities, alarmingly noting the growing involvement of women in the trade. He encouraged the youth to steer away from drugs and pursue meaningful livelihoods, calling for greater collaboration between the police and the youth in tackling drug abuse.
As part of the celebrations, the President of the National Council of Zabrama Chiefs, Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu, presented a citation of honour to Hon. Alhaji Lamin Abu Sadat, the Coordinator of Zongo Development, in recognition of his exceptional dedication and service to Zongo communities across the country.
The National Chief Imam of Ghana also graced the occasion and commended Sarki Yendu for his leadership in unifying the Zabrama people. He called on the community to continue upholding peace and unity as a pathway to national development.
The Zarmai Annaamai Festival continues to serve as a powerful cultural and social platform that unites the Zabrama people, celebrates their heritage, and promotes values of resilience, peace, and community progress.
