The New Patriotic party in the Savannah Region has on Saturday, 28th January, 2023 held it’s Youth Wing and TESCON conference at Damongo under the theme; “Holding and working together to Consolidate our gains in 2024” the role of the youth.
The Youth Wing is a special organ within the NPP party which helps in Promoting the policies and programs of the party within the youth age brackets.
Mr. Raphael Akati Mahama, the Savannah Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP outlined a number of the success chalked in his tenure as the youth Commander for the party.
According to him, he has over the years collaborated with relevant stakeholders to get some youths appointed into various positions of the Youth Wing adding that, the various constituency Youth organizers has replicated same in all the seven constituencies in the region.
He also disclosed that with support from Ing. Dr. Clifford Braimah, he has presented some brand new apsonic motorbikes to all seven Constituency Youth organizers and TESCON.
Mr. Raphael Akati further revealed that he is currently rolling out the distribution of durable plastic chairs to all seven constituencies and has ensured that some youths passed through the National youth employment agency and are receiving allowances.
“Plans are far advanced to complete, furnish and commission an office complex for the Wing” he added
He also encouraged the youth not to be discouraged by the current economic impact saying it is as a result of COVID 19 and the Russia -Ukrain war which has resulted in government taking painful but necessary financial rationalizations to manage the situation in order for normalcy to return.
He expressed worry over how the lives of young people are affected by the unfortunate two tier menace but said Leadership is not sleeping on their job to get the situation resolved.
Mr. Salam Mustapha, the national youth organizer of the NPP on his part admonished the youth not give up for the party but rather continue with their hardwork, dedication and commitment to the party as the next elections is going to be won by youth.
He added that the continuity of the NPP party in power will create more jobs, scholarship and opportunities to the youth hence the need to be attached to the importance of breaking the 8.
He also encouraged the youth not to relent in their efforts as the economy will rebounce going in the 2024 elections.
The national youth organizer also called for more commitment in the party saying, South Africa has maintained one party system since the era of Nelson Mandela hence the need for breaking the 8 and the continuity of the NPP.
The Savannah Regional Chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana pledged his support for the youth and TESCON to enable them work effectively for the party.
He admonished them to emulate the works of the Damongo MP, the National youth Organizer, the Savannah Regional minister and the many others who were once TESCON members.
Prof. Kalamonia also said he is bent to adding more parliamentary seats to the current three in the Savannah Region which he believes can be done through the support of the Youth.
He also noted that Ghana is going to witness history in the 2024 elections with the NPP breaking the 8 or a former president becoming President again, which the Savannah Regional Chairman strongly believes the NPP will be favored following the numerous achievement chalked in the past years.
Also addressing the youth was the deputy National secretary who admonished the youth wing to respect the structures of the party in ensuring victory 2024 by using their knowledge to serve the party through the good deeds of the NPP party policies
He also noted that NPP has never introduced a policy that is of benefits to the NPP members alone but to the entire country and pleaded with them to vote for development which the NPP stands for.
The Youth and TESCON members were taken through various training which included; effective political communication, the use of social media for effective campaign, the history and ideologies of the NPP, rebranding of TESCON for effective mobilization, understanding the structure of the NPP party, achievements of the NPP party and leadership roles, responsibilities and team building as TESCON members with different facilitators
The conference was well attended by National, Regional and Constituency executives of the NPP, the Savannah regional minister, MDCEs and members of TESCON across the Savannah region.
