In a bold assertion, Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Damongo and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has conveyed a clear message to the opposition NDC in the Damongo constituency, stating that the Damongo parliamentary seat will remain firmly with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Jinapor, the NPP has built a more united and formidable base in Damongo, positioning itself as the dominant force in the area.
Addressing party supporters at Larabanga on Thursday, November 7, 2024, during a campaign event for NPP Vice Presidential Candidate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Jinapor emphasized the NPP’s commitment to solidifying its presence in the constituency.
He assured supporters that the party’s recent successes and unity are aimed at turning Damongo into an NPP stronghold.
Acknowledging the NDC’s view of Damongo as a significant target—being the capital of the Savannah Region and a prized seat for the party—Jinapor was firm in his stance that the NPP’s accomplishments in the constituency would make the seat “untouchable” for the opposition.
He argued that his track record and the developments under the NPP’s governance have earned the party the right to retain the seat in the upcoming elections.
During the campaign event, lawyer Abu Jinapor praised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, highlighting his notable achievements in public service, including the introduction of the Free SHS program during his tenure as Minister for Education and his efforts in ending the “Dumsor” power crisis while serving as Energy Minister.
Mr. Jinapor expressed confidence that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s experience and dedication will further strengthen the NPP ticket alongside Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The rally was aimed at demonstrating the NPP’s determination to maintain control over Damongo as the party prepares for a competitive electoral season.
