The Northern Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (NEDCo) has announced a general revenue mobilization and loss control exercise set to commence on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Damongo and its surrounding communities.
In the Damongo municipality, the exercise will start on the specified date at all NEDCo’s operational areas beginning at Busunu and continuing to Langatre, followed by Soalepe, Boyanto, Achubunyo, Jonokponto and then Mempeasem from Wednesday.
In the following week, the exercise will continue on the Laribanga stretch which include Laribanga, Mole, Mognori, Murugu, Kabampe , Kananto and Gurupe.
Customers with outstanding bills are advised to leave their receipts at home when they are out to prevent disconnection.
This initiative as contained in a press release on 18th June, 2024, aims to address arrears and curtail illegal activities affecting revenue across NEDCo’s operational areas.
The exercise will target all customers in arrears, including both privately-owned and state-owned accounts, except for a select few critical accounts. NEDCo will focus on identifying and eliminating loss-inducing activities, such as illegal and unauthorized connections.
The press release also indicated that Special security measures will be implemented to ensure the exercise proceeds without interference, with strict legal action promised against those found engaging in illegal connections or re-connections.
In a move to fully mobilize resources, NEDCo’s Head Office and Area Offices will temporarily close, allowing all staff, including top management, to participate in the exercise. However, customer service centers, zonal offices, and third-party vendors will remain open to address customer concerns, including reconnections.
The company emphasizes that this exercise will not disrupt ongoing prosecution processes. Customers with outstanding bills are urged to settle their accounts immediately to avoid disconnection and subsequent re-connection fees. Individuals involved in illegal or unauthorized connections are advised to cease such activities immediately to avoid legal repercussions.
NEDCo appeals for public cooperation to ensure the success of this exercise, highlighting the importance of responsible power usage and timely bill payments to maintain quality service delivery.
