The general public is being advised to cooperate with the 2021 Population and Housing Census (2021 PHC) field officers to generate reliable data for the nation.
The Savannah regional director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Issaka Zitor made the call on Damongo based Community Radio Station, Radio PAD 95.1mhz.
Mr Zitor said the enumerators require public support both from Ghanaians and foreigners to enable them generate reliable data for planning purposes at all levels and also monitoring of economic well-being of Citizens in Ghana.
Mr. Zitor urged residents of Savannah region to embrace the 2021 Population and Housing Census. He explained that 27th June, 2021, shall be referred to as Census Night. Thus, it is a reference point, to which all enumerators must relate.
To help make the Census Night memorable, events will be organized in communities throughout the country to mark the census night.
Enumeration will start on 28th June, 2021, counting every person once in Ghana.
The listing of structures is currently ongoing across the country.
He said the 2021 PHC is very important for the region and that house or structure owners must not see the exercise as tax purposes and thereby preventing enumerators from doing their work, they should rather support them with the needed information.
Reliable data is necessary to aid good planning to develop the region and the country at large, because no data is better than wrong data.
