MTN Ghana has brought festive joy to the Savannah Region by gifting hampers to 22 newborns delivered on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. The thoughtful gesture, part of the company’s annual Christmas celebration initiative, was aimed at celebrating the season with the new mothers and their babies.
The donations were carried out at the Salaga government hospital and the St.Anne’s Catholic Hospital, both in the Savannah region. At the St. Anne’s Catholic Hospital, 12 children benefitted, including two from the NICU Unit and 10 from the Salaga government hospital.
Each hamper was thoughtfully curated, containing essential items such as diapers, baby oil, baby wipes, detergents, soaps, powders, baby towels, pomade, baby dolls, and cotton buds, among others.
The initiative was led by MTN’s Territory Controller, Matthew Abugbilla, and a team of MTN staff who distributed the hampers on behalf of the company.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Abugbilla expressed delight at the increased number of beneficiaries this year, highlighting the company’s commitment to sharing the joy of the season with families in the Savannah Region.
“This year, we were able to carry out the initiative in three health facilities, and we hope to extend this to other facilities in the coming years. The essence of this exercise is to share in the joy of these newborns and their mothers during the festive season,” he said.
He also reassured the mothers of MTN’s commitment to supporting children and their families, adding that the hampers were intended to provide essential items to aid the well-being of the newborns.
The gesture underscores MTN Ghana’s dedication to community engagement and its mission to brighten lives beyond its telecommunications services, particularly during special occasions like Christmas.
