The member of parliament for the Daboya – Mankarigu constituency and deputy minister for health, Hon. Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini has visited some affected flood prone areas in his constituency.

The Member of parliament visited the area following the wash away of some major roads in the area cutting off communities at Tachale causing havoc to commutters to and from Daboya.

The havoc is as a result of the recent heavy rains in the area and the spillage of the bagre Dam in neighboring Burkina Faso which caused floods in the area and subsequently washing away portions of the road leaving commutters to and from Daboya stranded.

The member of parliament explained that, his visit to the affected areas was for him to assess the situation for himself and also have first hand information on the extent
of damage caused by the floods and to also commiserate with the affected communities.

He expressed his worry at the situation as it has caused all economic activities in the area to come to a halt leaving commutters to no option than to resort to the use of canoes as their only means of transport.

Hon. Alhaji Asei Mahama Seini expressed Government’s sympathies to victims of the devastating floodwaters especially road users while also assuring that, his office and Government would not abandon them in this difficult time, adding that, the Government is committed to finding a lasting solution to the perennial flooding in that part of the District and the entire flood prone areas in the region.

He also reiterated his commitment to collaborate with the Government to get a purposeful bridge across the Tachali river on the Daboya – Busunu road to address the perennial cutting off of the road which at some times, causes stress to commuters and motorists on that stretch.

The lawmaker however revealed that, a team of Engineers have been dispatched to work on portions of the roads affected by the floodwaters in order to reconnect the roads which were cut off.

The MP for Daboya-Mankarigu constituency and deputy Minister for Health, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini was in the company of the DCE for North Gonja District, Hon. Adam Eliasu and some bigwigs of the NPP in the Daboya – Mankarigu Constituency.

He embarked on this two-day tour on Saturday, 1st October, 2022 and ended on the 2nd October, 2022
