Assist Superintendent of Police – ASP Wisdom Pavis, Crime Officer of the Bole District Police Command in the Savannah region is appealing to Ghanaians to make the police and security services their best friends and share vital security information with them to help prevent Violent Extremism in Ghana. He says Ghana has not been attacked by extremists due to the good relationship that exists between the citizens and security services with regards information exchange.
ASP Wisdom believes that it is not by choice to be friends with the police and security services but a necessity.

ASP Wisdom Pavis – Crime Officer, Bole Police

ASP Wisdom made the appeal during NCCE’s engagement with students of Damongo Agriculture College on Wednesday 16th October, 2024, Damongo, Savannah regional capital.

“The police actually is your best friend that you can have yes, it is not by choice it is a necessity. There are certain institutions in Ghana, it is not by choice that you should know and make friends with them it is necessary to do so for security reasons.

Who do we hurt if we distance ourselves from the police and the security services, we hurt ourselves, don’t we?”.

ASP Wisdom further urges the public to have at least two security officers contacts in their phones because you will ‘need the security when you are in distress’.

He noted that Ghana has not been attacked by Violent Extremists because “you and I are a bit vigilant” and I wish to urge all of us to remain vigilant and do not hesitate to call the toll free line 999 when you are in distress.

ASP Wisdom added that when you call the 999 make sure you give your full name, location and nature of the event or incident that is happening so the security services can act appropriately.

We all have a responsibility to make sure our communities are safe. Make sure to share the little information you have with the security services or right stakeholders. Do not share the information with a lot of people because you may cause harm to yourself if the perpetrators got hold of such information. Try to share such confidential information with your police, security agencies, chiefs, Hon Assembly Members, religious leaders, among others, he stressed.
