Laribanga Ladies FC wins Naada Jinapor Foundation Girls Football Competition

Laribanga based women football club, Laribanga Ladies have won the maiden historic edition of the Women Football tournament proudly sponsored by Naada Jinapor Foundation. The aim of the competition is to help develop girls football in the Damongo Constituency.

Laribanga Ladies beat Damongo based Holy Stars fc two to one (2-1) to emerged champions.
Hidaya Shaibu was the heroine of the afternoon after netting the two goals, one in each half, whilst Amira Akunatu Karim got the consolation for Holy Stars Ladies.

The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency and minister of Lands and Natural Resources Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor was the Special Guest and presented a beautiful trophy to the Laribanga Ladies FC.

Laribanga Ladies took home one thousand five hundred Ghana cedis (GHC1,500), medals and a trophy as awards.

Holy Stars Ladies FC won Silver medal with one thousand Ghana cedis (GHC1,000) and medals.

Damongo United Ladies won bronze after beating Daughters of Brigade fc 2-0 in the third position playoff. They earned eight hundred Ghana cedis (GHC800) with medals.

Each participating team received footballs, jerseys, training equipment and some amount of cash to aid their preparations towards the competition.

Other awards include;

Best Goalkeeper – Mashud Hanifa of Laribanga Ladies.

Top Scorer – Shaibu Hidaya of Laribanga Ladies with 3 goals

Discovery of the competition – Shaibu Hidaya of Laribanga Ladies

Best player of the tournament – Iddrisu Fuseina of Holy Stars Ladies.

They took home various awards for their efforts.

Samuel Abu Jinapor during his short speech, encouraged the ladies to be committed to training and remain dedicated and disciplined to help develop their talents in the sport and said his doors are widely opened to all stakeholders towards football development.

The tournament started on Friday 11th October to Sunday 13th October, 2024 at the Damongo Damongo Park.

Iddrisu Saka Togo, the West Gonja Municipal Football Association Chairman commended Naada Jinapor Foundation for supporting the tournament and appealed for more support for the growth and development of football clubs in the West Gonja municipality.

He commended all stakeholders, the chiefs and religious leaders for the support and appealed to the Hon MP for Damongo Constituency to help secure a division one league spot for Damongo Constituency.

“I’m highly honored and proud to see the successful end to the HISTORIC NAADA JINAPOR FOUNDATION GIRLS FOOTBALL COMPETITION, which started on Friday 11th October and ended today, 13th October, 2024.
This is the first of its kind and we must be proud of ourselves.

To all the participating clubs, the ExCo Members, the various communities, ex-football administrators, current and retired footballers, soccer fans, and all stakeholders. We must really be proud of ourselves for being part of this historic moment.

Thank you to you NAADA BILIJO JINAPOR, the leader of the NAADA JINAPOR FOUNDATION for supporting the development of GIRLS FOOTBALL in the Damongo Constituency. God bless you.

Our Traditional and Religious leaders, the good people of this area, and the West Gonja Municipal Football Association are all proud of you for your excellent dedication towards GIRLS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT.

Your support to the organization of tournament is in line with the GOALS, MISSION, AND long-term VISION of the West Gonja Municipal Football Association.
We are therefore, appealing to you and the NAADA JINAPOR FOUNDATION to support the Football Association to organize more GIRLS FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS to promote talents around this area.

We are also appealing to the MP for Damongo Constituency and minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor to organize more football competitions in the Constituency to help us develop football.

We are adding our voices to you to help secure a DIVISION ONE LEAGUE SLOT for the Damongo Constituency.

To Our players, coaches, team managers, various committees, and all key stakeholders, I want to thank you very much for your dedication and sleepless moments to getting this competition end successfully. God richly bless you all.

Laribanga Ladies fc, Holy Stars Ladies fc, Damongo United Ladies, Daughters of Brigade, Blue City Ladies, Zongo Ladies, Bikunu Rising Ladies, and Yagbon Ladies, participated in the maiden edition of the girls tournament.
