The Local Accountability Network (LANet) West Gonja has commemorated the 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day by organizing an integrity and anti-corruption education campaign for students in Buipe, aimed at nurturing a new generation committed to honesty, transparency, and accountability.

The sensitization programme took place on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Buipe DA Junior High School, Buipe Girls Model School, and Buipe Senior High School in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.

The educational sessions were facilitated by Mr. Baba, the District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), who engaged students on the various forms of corruption and their far-reaching consequences on national development.

During the interactive sessions, students were educated on issues such as nepotism, extortion, favouritism, embezzlement, fraud, and corruption, with emphasis on how these unethical practices weaken public institutions, erode trust, and hinder sustainable development.

Mr. Baba encouraged the students to embrace integrity and become ambassadors of ethical behaviour by promoting honesty, fairness, and transparency in their schools, homes, and communities. He stressed that the fight against corruption requires the active participation of every citizen, especially young people who represent the country’s future leaders.

The awareness campaign formed part of LANet West Gonja’s activities to mark the 2026 Africa Anti-Corruption Day, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to promoting accountability, responsible citizenship, and good governance through public education.

Organizers noted that instilling the values of integrity and accountability in students at an early age is essential to building a society where corruption is rejected and ethical leadership is embraced.

They expressed confidence that the initiative would empower the participating students to serve as advocates for transparency and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and strengthen democratic governance.
