Teaching and learning at St. Anne’s Primary School in Damongo continue to suffer as pupils and teachers struggle with severe furniture shortages that have persisted for over a year now. Several classrooms lack adequate desks and chairs, forcing many pupils to sit on the bare floor or squeeze together on broken furniture during lessons. Sources revealed to me indicate the situation is affecting concentration, comfort, and the overall quality of education delivered in the school.
St. Anne’s Primary school has over 500 school children learning under hash conditions in Damongo.
Sources disclosed that repeated appeals for support have yielded little response, leaving both learners and teachers frustrated. They warn that the lack of furniture not only makes effective teaching difficult but also discourages attendance, particularly among younger pupils who are unable to sit for long hours without proper seating.
Community members and parents are therefore calling on the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, the Damongo Catholic Diocese, and benevolent organisations to intervene urgently to ensure that children at St. Anne’s Primary School learn in a safe and supportive environment.
