As preparations advance for the 7th-day Adua rites of the late Sandapewura Bowulonso Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, set to take place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Damongo, Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, has penned a moving tribute in memory of the late traditional leader and respected statesman.
In his tribute, Hon. Jinapor described the late Sandapewura not only as a maternal uncle but also as a guiding force in his life whose influence extended far beyond politics or public office. “What comes to mind first is not politics or positions but the enduring and cherished values of family,” he wrote.

Hon. Jinapor fondly recalled being introduced to the wider Langbonto family by Alhaji Muniru during a large family gathering, a gesture he said gave him a deep sense of belonging and identity. “That moment was not just a formality. Alhaji and many others gave me something priceless: the assurance that I was part of a bigger story and a proud heritage.”
The MP highlighted a memorable encounter from 2003 when Alhaji Muniru, then a member or Chairman of the Hajj Board, went out of his way to assist his grandmother with her pilgrimage preparations. “That early encounter left a lasting impression on me, and from then on, our bond only grew stronger.”
Despite finding themselves on opposing sides of the political divide—Alhaji Muniru being a key figure in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Hon. Jinapor in the New Patriotic Party (NPP)—their family bond remained unbroken. The MP recalled the 2024 general elections as a time of intense political competition, but one which Alhaji Muniru handled with rare dignity.
“After the tumultuous and keenly contested election of 2024, when the Electoral Commission formally declared me as the legitimate winner, one of the very first calls I received was from him. He congratulated me warmly, setting aside politics to affirm our kinship,” Hon. Jinapor wrote, calling the gesture a testament to Alhaji’s grace and maturity.

He shared further that their familial closeness never waned, with regular visits and a close bond with Alhaji Muniru’s children, particularly his son, Kasha, whom the MP referred to as “like a younger brother.”
One of the most touching parts of the tribute was Hon. Jinapor’s recollection of their last conversations—first in person, when Alhaji visited to share news of his appointment as Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and then over the phone just days before his passing.
“I never imagined that it would be the last time I would hear his voice,” he wrote.
Hon. Jinapor described his uncle as “a guide, a confidant, and a true example of loyalty to family and service to nation,” adding that while his death has left a deep void, the legacy of his life’s work and values will continue to inspire many.
He concluded his tribute with a prayerful farewell:
“May the soul of Sandapewura Bowulonso Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna and those of the departed rest and abide in the bosom of the Lord until the last day when we shall all meet again.”
The late Sandapewura, known for his unwavering commitment to public service and family unity, will be remembered on Sunday during the Adua rites, which are expected to draw mourners, dignitaries, and loved ones from across the country.
