Some Youth groups from the Yapei/Kusawgu constituency in the Savannah region has pleaded with the PRO of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mr. Habibu Muftawu to contest their Constituency seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections to the rescue of it’s constituents.
The group made this plea when the stormed Tamale on Saturday, 11th March, 2023 to meet with Mr. Muftawu to plead with him to contest the seat independently come December, 2024.
According to the groups, Mr. Mufti has over the years demonstrated some good leadership skills to the appreciation of the people in the Yapei/Kasawgu constituency and has also played very important roles in uplifting the name of the Gonja Kingdom with much dedication and humility.
They explained that with the little done so far by Mr. Muftawu, the are convinced that he will be able to do better when voted to the office of member of parliament for area.
leaders of the groups who came from across the constituency and spoke on behalf their members saying, they arrived at the decision to call on Mr. Muftawu to constest the seat because people who represented the constituency in the past years has failed them in the development of the constituency and pleaded with him not reject their request because he is the one the want to represent them in the next parliament.
Mr. Muftawu expressed gratitude to the groups and said he was overwhelmed by the gesture done him by the groups and added that, their request looked more like a chieftaincy title given to him but pleaded with them to exercise some patience with him until after the enskinment of the new Yagbonwura and after he has consulted with his family and friends and get back to them and subsequently announce to them in the Yapei – Kasawgu constituency.
The groups came from Fufulso, Yapei, Buipe, Tulwe, Chama, Mpaha, Kpabuso, and many others.
