Green for Change Ghana has been honored with the Excellence in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action Award, recognizing its outstanding efforts in environmental restoration, climate resilience, and community empowerment across Northern Ghana.
The prestigious accolade was presented at the 2nd Edition of the Northern Ghana Business Merit Awards, organized by The Business Executive Ghana and held at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale on Friday 17th October, 2025.

The award celebrates Green for Change Ghana’s innovative and inclusive climate solutions that focus on ecosystem restoration, sustainable farming, agroforestry, and clean energy adoption, all of which aim to protect the environment while improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
Accepting the award, Mr. John Balankoo Sumbo, Executive Director of Green for Change Ghana, expressed deep gratitude and reaffirmed the organization’s mission:
“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of our unwavering commitment to driving climate resilience, restoring degraded landscapes, and promoting sustainable livelihoods across Ghana. We dedicate this award to our hardworking staff, resilient beneficiaries, and dedicated partners.”

Mr. Sumbo also used the platform to issue a renewed call to action, urging government, civil society, and the private sector to intensify efforts in combating environmental degradation.
“Our work is far from over. We must deepen our efforts to reduce harmful activities such as deforestation, illegal mining, and unsustainable farming. Together, we can build a climate-resilient Ghana.”

With community-centered interventions, Green for Change Ghana continues to integrate climate-smart agriculture, clean cooking technologies, and reforestation projects—bringing environmental and economic benefits to local communities.
“Every tree planted, every livelihood supported, and every partnership built brings us closer to a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come,” Mr. Sumbo concluded.
This award cements Green for Change Ghana’s role as a leading voice in grassroots climate action, proving that local solutions, when backed by strong partnerships and community ownership, can drive meaningful national and global impact.
