Lawyer Mohammed Amin Osman, the President of the Gonjaland Youth Association has Called for support for Sonyowura, the acting head of state of the Gonja Kingdom at the Jakpa Place.
Sonyowura Kanyiti ( I ) became the acting regent following the death of the Gonjaland King, Yagbonwura Prof. Tuntumba Bore-Essa(I).
Members of the Association have also expressed their appreciation to the Youth of the Kingdom for the support and solidarity in the processes leading to the burial of the late King and overlord.
This was contained in a statement on Tuesday, 7th February, 2023 by the president of the Gonjaland Youth Association and issued by the PRO Borejinkpr Habibu Muftawu sited by this news portal which read;
“We encourage all the people of Gonjaland to give Sonyowura and all other chiefs the needed support to enable them deliver on their mandate as bestowed on them in accordance with the tradition and custom of the Gonja state”.
“We have a settled tradition and custom in times like this and we have the assurance of Sonyowura that, he and the other kingmakers will act accordingly and in the best interest of the kingdom”. It further stated

PRESIDENT OF GONJALAND YOUTH ASSOCIATION, LAWYER MOHAMMED AMIN OSMAN CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR SONYOWURA, THE ACTING HEAD OF THE GONJA STATE AS WE MOURN THE PASSING OF THE KING AND OVERLORD OF THE GONJA KINGDOM, YAGBONWURA SULEMANA JAKPA TUNTUMBA BORESA I.
I write to express our appreciation to the gallant youth of Gonjaland for the support and solidarity by the Youth throughout the processes leading to the burial of the King and Overlord of our Kingdom.
Through out the traditional processes, the youth of Gonjaland played a major role and I commend all the people of Gonjaland and continue to urge the people to remain united as Sonyowura who is the Acting Head of the Kingdom takes charge of the affairs of the Kingdom until a substantive Yagbonwura is selected by the Kingmakers and enskined in accordance with the tradition and custom of the Kingdom.
As we continue to follow through with the tradition, we are optimistic that, all persons who are involved in the processes of organizing the funeral, will act in accordance with the tradition and customs of our forefathers.
In accordance with the tradition of our Kingdom, the Acting Head of the Gonja State (Sonyowura) has announced Friday 10th February, 2023 as the date for the 3rd day Adua of the late King Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I) at the Jakpa Palace, Damongo.

We thank the warriors, Imams and Mallams, the traditional people who were there at Nyange (the Gonja State Capital) and Mankuma for the various roles they played for the past 3 days.
We are also grateful to the MP for Bole Bamboi Constituency and the DCE for Sawla Tuna Kalba for their dedication and support for all the people who were gathered at Mankuma and Nyange respectively.
We commend all the youth of Gonja, particularly the Sawla Branch of Gonjaland Youth Association for helping us and supervising the remodeling of the Nyange Home.
