Gonja Traditional council holds meeting with Chiefs and executives of Gonjaland Youth Association at Damongo

The Gonja Traditional Council has on Tuesday, 24th January, 2023 held an emergency meeting with chiefs and executives of the Gonjaland Youth Association at Damongo.

In a welcome address, the overlord and King of the Gonja kingdom, His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Prof. Sulemana Tuntumba Bore – essa ( I ) called on duty bearers, chiefs and institutions in the helms of chieftaincy matters to take decisions that will promote peace, culture  and enhance the tradition of the people to make them agents of development and promoters of the socio cultural affairs of the kingdom to enable them restore and place a premium value of the Gonja chieftaincy to the rest of the world.

The Gonja King made the call in a speech delivered on his behalf by Mr. Abutu Kapori, Secretary to the Gonja Traditional Council in a meeting with the highest  decision making body of the Gonja kingdom convened at the instance of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) who expressed interest to have audience with the council a couples of weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the king has assured the chiefs and people of Gonjaland that the Gonja Traditional Council will by the end of the year resolve and write off all pending matters of chieftaincy and land related challenges in the kingdom to enhance
peace and tranquility and to also bring about agricultural development and effective education which will bring investors to the land of the Savannah Region.

On the part of the Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA), it’s President, Lawyer Mohammed Amin expressed their happiness with the response of the chiefs, saying their concerns are about the review of the constitution of the Gonjaland traditional council and some land boundary issues in the kingdom, which he said has been highly accepted and welcomed by the highest decision making body of the Gonja kingdom.

He further stated that the meeting with the council members was important as it will help address some of the issues faced in the kingdom.

He expressed joy in the culture and tradition observe in the seating saying, the Gonjaland Youth Association is obliged to achieve and promote peace and Development in the kingdom

Meanwhile a report presented by a committee formed to probe into the actions of the Gonjaland Youth Association in mankuma regarding a video which circulated on social media purported to some happenings in the kingdom was nullified by some council members which calls for the formation of a new committee to probe into the issues.
