The Savannah Regional chairman for the New Patriotic party, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana popularly known as Professor Kalamonia has extended a warm welcome to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo as he leads Governments delegation to Damongo on Sunday, 26th February, 2023 to grace the seventh day funeral rites of Late Gonja King, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa ( I ).

Your Excellency, I bring you warm felicitations from the Savannah Region, which you generously created on February 12, 2019.
Savannah is your second birth place, where your late bosom friend and brother, Yagbon-Wura Professor Sulemana Jakpa Tuntumba Bore-Essa I, wholeheartedly conferred on you the chieftaincy title, ‘Yinawura-Wura,’ to wit, (One who matches his words with deeds).
Your support to the Gonja Kingdom cannot be underestimated and we really appreciate your fervent love and support for the people of Gonjaland.
Your Excellency, in the run up to the 2016 general elections, you visited the Jakpa Palace and your late friend and brother, Yagbon-Wura Professor Sulemana Jakpa Tuntumba Bore-Essa I, prayed for your victory.
The late Gonja Kingdom King renewed calls for the creation of a new region out of the then Northern Region for Gonjaland.
Immediately you assumed office, you certainly granted the late Gonja Kingdom King’s request and, on February 12, 2019, the age-long dream of the people of Gonjaland became a reality.
Your Excellency, the late King of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbon-Wura Professor Sulemana Jakpa Tuntumba Bore-Essa I in his wisdom stated and I quote, “The region will outlive you and I, but be assured that the Savannah Region will forever be grateful to you.”
It was for this reason that the Gonja Traditional Council, led by your late brother and friend, conferred on you the Chieftaincy title ‘Yinawura-Wura.’
Your Excellency, this time round, you are visiting the Savannah Region with a high-powered delegation to mourn and empathize with the entire Gonja Kingdom, following the demise of the late King of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbon-Wura Professor Sulemana Jakpa Tuntumba Bore-Essa.
Your Excellency, this marks your ninth (9th) visit to the Savannah Region since you assumed Office as President of the Republic. Your regular visits to the Jakpa Palace and the Gonja Kingdom has been historic and unprecedented.
For the records, your last historic visit to Damongo was remarkable because it was the first time an incumbent Ghanaian President spent a night in Damongo, the traditional and administrative capital of the Savannah Region.
Your Excellency, on February 21 this year, you received a delegation from the Acting Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Sonyo-Wura Kanyiti I, led by the Vice President of the Gonja Traditional Council, Buipe-Wura Jinapor II.
You were officially informed about the death of your late brother and friend, and you promised to participate in the 7th day ‘Adua’ funeral rites on Sunday, 26th February, 2023 in Damongo.
Your acceptance to honour this invitation is a clear indication of your reverence for the traditions of the people of Gonja Kingdom and the entire Savannah Region.
I say to you ‘Asankaba’ to the Jakpa Palace.
I pray that Allah, the Almighty will guide, protect, and give you more wisdom to continue to do your best for the Savannah Region and the Gonja Kingdom.
You are indeed a son of Gonjaland!
