Breast Cancer awareness period is celebrated in October each year, as such a health walk is been organized by Northern Media Ladies to create the awareness of the public about the deadly Breast Cancer disease that has over the years, taken the lives of women across the world. The Breast Cancer health walk will be staged at Damongo on Saturday, 8th of October, 2022, at the town park.

Flawless creations consult in collaboration with Northern Media Ladies are promoting breast cancer awareness week across the five Northern Regions in the country.

According to Madam Leatrice Naa Kwarley Richardson, founder, Flawless creations consult said the breast cancer situation in the five Northern Regions necessitated the championing of the project as many women were at risk of breast cancer.

“Breast Cancer is the most neglected and yet the deadliest of all Cancers. A research has shown that people under these conditions are the most disadvantaged due to economic factors,” she said.

Miss Naa indicated that this year’s theme “Safer by the thousand” sought to encourage electronic detection, which use to determine whether one was safe or not.
Another report from the various health centers across the world has shown that women with big breast had higher risk of getting breast cancer and stressed the need for all women having their breasts examined at least twice every two months for both clinical and self-assessment.

An ecologist at the Tumu municipal hospital gave an advice during a breast cancer awareness and screening.
He said “reports from the center for disease control and prevention (CDC) indicated that having dence breast tissue was a risk factor for getting breast cancer and that the dence breast tends to have more connective tissues than fatty tissues”, which sometimes complicate the process of identifying tumors in mammograms.

“As a result, the CDC says women with dence breast are more prone to getting breast cancer”, he stressed.

This walk is been organised by Flawless creations consult in collaboration with Radio PAD with support from from the West Gonja municipal assembly, Ghana health service, Students, Youth groups and many more.

Accordingly, Media Ladies in Damongo and it’s surroundings led by Beatrice Anane, is calling on the general public to join the team for the walk on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Damongo town park for the health walk. Support of any kind is most welcome.
