FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GLYA engages stakeholders over MCE nominee issue in Bole
The Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) has met with youth leaders, traditional authorities, and government officials in Bole to help find a peaceful way to address the ongoing concerns about the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Over the past weeks, the Arise Bole Youth group and the Bolewura have openly expressed that they are not in support of the nominee. They have made it clear that while they are open to having someone serve as MCE, they prefer it to be someone other than the current nominee.
In a series of meetings facilitated by GLYA, representatives from the youth group, the Bolewura’s palace, regional minister and other government officials met to explore a peaceful and lasting solution to the impasse. The discussions were focused on safeguarding unity, peace, and development within the municipality.

GLYA acknowledges the concerns raised by all parties and continues to act as a neutral mediator in these engagements. We urge the youth and all residents to remain calm and law-abiding as dialogue continues. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the Bole municipality receives its fair share of development and representation in a manner that reflects the will and unity of its people.
GLYA recommended that both the planned demonstration by the youth and the MCE confirmation process be put on hold for now.
This will give more time for all sides to continue talking and hopefully reach an agreement that reflects the hopes and concerns of the people of Bole.
GLYA will continue to support efforts that promote peace, understanding, and progress in our communities.
