The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, Mr. Abdulai Mahmud, has revealed that the Bole District Assembly has spent approximately GHC2 million on maintaining security since the Gbinyiri conflict erupted in August 2025.
Speaking during the commissioning of a newly constructed Ghana Police Post at Dakuripe on November 26, 2025, Mr. Mahmud expressed concern over the financial burden the conflict has placed on the Assembly. He noted that the disturbances have severely affected livelihoods, economic activities, and the smooth operations of both the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assemblies.

According to him, the Assembly’s substantial investment in security underscores the urgent need for permanent policing installations across the district to ensure stability and protect lives and property.
The new Dakuripe Police Post was constructed under the Peace Protect Project implemented by COGINTA, with funding support from the European Union. Describing the facility as “a great milestone in the history of policing in the Bole District,” the DCE said it will bring law enforcement closer to residents, improve security response, and strengthen community trust in the police.
Mr. Mahmud reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Police Service to deliver professional and effective policing. He also expressed gratitude to COGINTA Ghana, the Dakuripe community leadership, and residents for their collaboration, adding that the Assembly will continue to partner NGOs, CSOs, FBOs, and the private sector to meet development and security needs.
He further commended the Bole District and Divisional Police Commands for their swift response during the Gbinyiri conflict, stressing that peace remains the foundation for development. “We cannot trade peace for anything because it is the vehicle for development,” he emphasized.
The DCE also appealed to COGINTA to intensify public education on preventing farmer–herdsmen conflicts, which he described as a growing challenge linked to recurring disputes over cattle grazing on farmlands.
