The Catholic Bishop for the Damongo Diocese, Most Rev. Peter Paul Y. Angkyier has on Sunday, 26th March, 2023 paid a courtesy call on newly esnkinned Gonja King, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale ( I ) at Damongo.
The visit by the Bishop was for him to familiarise himself with the new king and also for him to congratulate the king on his elevation to the highest skin of the Gonja Kingdom.
Most Rev. Peter Paul Angkyier noted that, his visit was on behalf of the entire membership of the Catholic Church in the Damongo Diocese to congratulate and wish the king well in his reign as King of the Gonja Kingdom.
He indicated that the church was happy that God choosed he, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale ( I ) as the new king to lead the people of Gonjaland at this time and in a Kingdom that is blessed with the diversity of people and the diversity of culture with about twenty three ( 23 ) different tribes living in it.
He explained that for him as religious leaders, he has the obligation to work with him towards bringing peace, unity and harmony among all the people in the area, stating that, where there is understanding among the different tribes of people, there will be peace, progress and development and therefore prayed that God gives the new Gonja King the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be able to build and harmonise all the people together to enhance peace, Unity and togetherness so that everyone can contribute to the development of the area.
He asked that God guides the elders and chiefs who may be helping the king to be able to see that peace, unity and harmony will be what the king may have to leave behind as a Yagbonwura to be remembered.
The king on his part thanked the Bishop and his team for calling on him and said the Bishop has a role to play as a stakeholder when it comes to the peace and Development of the kingdom and asked that God gives Most Rev. Peter Paul and the many others he will be bringing on board the strength to be able to support him for the peace, unity and progress of the kingdom.
The Yagbon Imam in his prayers commended the Damongo Bishop for his dedication to God’s work and for his respect and attachment to the Traditional authorities in the area.
