Baba Hamidu Maclean has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Communication Officer for the Damongo Constituency in the party’s 2026 internal elections.

In a statement announcing his bid, Mr. Maclean said his decision is driven by a deep commitment to the NDC and a strong conviction that effective, strategic communication remains central to party growth, unity, and electoral success. He emphasized that his years of service within the party have equipped him with practical experience and a clear understanding of the constituency’s communication needs.
Mr. Maclean’s political journey within the NDC spans several key roles. He has served as a Polling Station Agent, safeguarding the party’s interests at the grassroots; Director of the Constituency Communication Team, coordinating messaging and responses, a Member of the Regional Communication Team, where he gained broader strategic exposure and as the first Zongo Caucus Coordinator for the Damongo Constituency, enhancing inclusion and engagement within Zongo communities.
He also recalled contesting for the same position during the 2022 internal elections, where he lost to the incumbent. According to him, that experience strengthened his resolve and provided valuable lessons that have refined his approach and preparedness for the task ahead.
Outlining his strengths, Mr. Maclean cited clarity of message, strategic thinking, loyalty to party ideals, media and digital communication skills, grassroots engagement, crisis and counter-propaganda management, discipline, integrity, and teamwork as key assets he brings to the role. He noted that effective communication must not only defend the party but also project hope, unity, and confidence in the NDC’s vision for Ghana.
His vision, he said, is to position the Damongo Constituency as a model of proactive, inclusive, and strategic communication within the region—one capable of countering misinformation, strengthening internal cohesion, amplifying party achievements, and marketing NDC candidates convincingly toward electoral victory.
Mr. Maclean appealed to party members and stakeholders for prayers, advice, encouragement, and support as the party prepares for the 2026 internal elections, calling for unity and renewed commitment to the ideals of the NDC.
“Forward ever, backward never. Victory 2026 is possible together,” he affirmed.
The declaration was signed by Baba Hamidu Maclean, Hopeful NDC Constituency Communication Officer for Damongo Constituency.
