Abu Samuel Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has handed over a Nissan Hardbody pick up to the Savannah regional branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at a ceremony held on Sunday, 13th February, 2022 at the Savannah regional capital, Damongo.
In a brief address, the regional chairman of the GPRTU, Chief Daniel Yakubu Siibu Mpotosowura on behalf of the Union, congratulated the Member of Parliament on his appointment as minister and commended him for the good works he is doing for the union since his arrival into the constituency.
He explained that, GPRTU is challenged with several problems in their operations as a union in the region but very happy that Lawyer Abu Jinapor is tackling some challenges in other to enhance it’s operations in the region.
The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive for the West Gonja municipal assembly, Musah Karim Kusubari on behalf of the Member of Parliament and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources handed over the Nissan hardbody vehicle to the Savannah regional branch of the GPRTU and called on members of the union to stay united devoid of political colours as always preached by Lawyer Abu Jinapor.
He noted that, the donation of the vehicle to the Savannah regional branch is in fulfilment of a plea made to him by the union executives which will go a long way to facilitate their work within and outside the region and said that, it is their hope that some years to come, District and Zonal branches of the union across the region will receive similar gestures to support in their operations.
He further called on them to continue to pray for the Member of Parliament for him to continue to do more for the people and for the development of the region.
The MCE commended the GPRTU for their services in the transport sector in the region and in the country and that, they as stakeholders will continue to support them to be able to serve the people better.
The Industrial Relations Officer (IRO) of the GPRTU in the Savannah region, Mr Abubakari Musah on behalf of the union commended Lawyer Abu Jinapor for the support extended to the union.
Mr Musah added that, the MP has done so much for the union and that, the donation of the Nissan pick up to the regional branch shows the MP’s commitment to development of the region and not just his home constituency, Damongo.
The Industrial Relations Officer noted that, the vehicle will be put into its intended purpose and also added that, the MP has in the past supported them with bags of rice,100 plastic chairs, mats for prayers, bags of rice and cash donations.
Branch and zonal executives of the GPRTU from Bole, Salaga, Daboya, Sawla, Damongo and the constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Damongo, Alhaji Adam Braimah, the Coordinator for the office of the MP, Mr Bawa Fuseini, 2nd vice Chairman, Kotochi Conrad Nana and other party executives were present at the ceremony.
