The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also the 2024 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a substantial donation towards the 1st Anniversary celebration of Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I), the esteemed King of Gonjaland.

The donation, totaling Ghc100,000.00 along with essential food items, underscores Vice President Bawumia’s commitment to the Region’s development and cultural heritage.

The donation, presented by the Savannah Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana Prof. Kalamonia, in the presence of some party officials, including the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, Hon. Musah Kusubari, comprised 30 bags of rice, 20 cartons of assorted drinks, a very big bull, five large gallons of cooking oil, and a substantial cash contribution of Ghc100,000.00.

Speaking after the donation, the Regional Chairman emphasized the symbolic significance of Vice President Bawumia’s gesture, particularly citing his deep-rooted ties with the Gonjaland Kingdom.

He said the Vice president as a sub-chief enskinned by Yagbonwura Biikunuto Jewu Soale, as “Konokonwule Wura (King of Unity) is dedicated to the savannah region’s progress and is evident through his various developmental initiatives, including the renovation of the Japka palace.

Although unable to attend the celebration in person due to prior commitments abroad, Vice President Bawumia’s presence will be palpable through his generous donation, which serves as a testament to his enduring support for Gonjaland’s cultural heritage and advancement.

The Chairman expressed hope for the attendance of His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, at the event, further underlining the significance of the occasion.

Prof. Kalamonia concluded by urging individuals affiliated with the NPP to exhibit discipline by refraining from wearing party colors during the event, while extending appreciation to the sons and daughters of the Savannah region for their continued support.

Vice President Bawumia’s donation not only highlights his commitment to the region’s prosperity but also underscores the broader NPP fraternity’s dedication to celebrating and advancing Gonjaland’s rich cultural legacy.
