Richard Ahiagbah, NPP’s national communications director is imploring the youth of Savannah region and Ghana to take massive advantage of government’s agriculture policies and invest in the sector to tie down unemployment and poverty in the country.
Richard Ahiagbah appealed to the youth across the Savannah region to venture into the government’s Youth In Agriculture Program to reap the benefits therein and create jobs for themselves because the NPP government will assist youth who are willing and ready to undertake the program.
” I want to appeal to the youth of the region to massively take advantage of the government’s Youth in agriculture policy. There is assistance to be provided for the youth from land preparation through to planting. We believe that this is unprecedented opportunity for the youth of Ghana. So we want to encourage all the youth here in the Savannah region to take advantage of the program and do some farming”.
Richard Ahiagbah said this after a three-day training of party communicators in the Savannah region of Ghana. The training is to support party communicators to explain government’s policies to the public and also help the NPP’s agenda of breaking the eight (8).
The training was facilitated by key communicators of the NPP both local and national. The savannah region was divided into three parts; the Eastern Zone, the Western Zone and the Middle Zone.
The Eastern Zone training was held on Monday, 16th October, 2023, at Salaga where party communicators from Salaga South and Salaga North constituencies were brought together.
The second phase of the training was held at Bole, bringing together members from Bole – Bamboi and the Sawla – Tuna – Kalba constituencies. Whilst Damongo hosted communicators from Daboya/Mankarigu, Yapei/Kusawgu and Damongo constituencies.
Addressing the media at the climax of the program on Thursday October, 19, 2023, the NPP’s director of communications, Richard Ahiagbah expressed gratitude to the media for the hard work and dedication to the government as well as the country since 2017. The media has partnered well with government by trumpeting achievements and engaging with Ghanaians.
” We would like to appeal to media to continue to work with us and assist us in disseminating information as you have always done “.
Richard Ahiagbah however maintained on the need for the media to run its core values of informing, educating and entertaining the citizenry and eschew agenda setting.
” Somehow we feel that the system as we have it now, the media own agenda is dominating to become more persuasive than what is supposed to be informational.
We are pleading that the media should continuously try to find balance by feeding the public with accurate information.
Richard Ahiagbah also, urged the youth of Ghana to take advantage of various jobs under government’s Youth Employment Agency to improve their economic status. This will assist the youth to own future economic prospects of the country after long battles with COVID 19 and the Russia-Ukraine war by investing rapidly in themselves.
Reacting to President’s viral comments during his visit to flood affected areas in the Volta region due to the Akosombo Dam spillage, Richard Ahiagbah blamed the NDC for twisting President Akufo-Addo’s message and campaigning with the woes of the displaced people adding, it is an insult to them Volta region.
“And infact if you saw the videos, the people clapped for the President after he said he didn’t visit the area because of votes and so at the end of the day it is the NDC that is moving from one media house to another trying to salvage the irks in their faces by painting the president black but it is rather the NDC that is insulting the intelligence of Voltarians.”
The training facilitation team include Richard Ahiagbah, Fatimah Abubakari, Hajia Safia Mohammed and Kofi Tonto.
The rest are Lawuratu Musah Saaka, Jennifer Appiah and Ellen Ama Daaku, with Mohammed Issah and the Savannah region NPP team assisting them.
