The Municipal Chief Executive of the West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari has officially handed over two newly built health facilities to the communities of Bonyanto and Jonokponto, both within the West Gonja municipality.
In separate ceremonies held on Friday, 15th September, 2023 and attended by the Municipal Director of Health Services (Madam Gertrude Yentumi), the MCE on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Damongo handed over the facilities which are designed to function as delivery centers to benefit the residents.
Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari explained that the construction of the facilities fulfills a promise made to the communities by Hon. Abu Jinapor following the struggle women in those areas go through in accessing health care services.
The gesture, according to the West Gonja MCE also acknowledges the trust placed in the Damongo Lawmaker by the communities.
The Municipal Chief Executive expressed the hope that the new facilities would enable members of the two communities, especially women, to access healthcare conveniently.
He emphasized Hon. Abu Jinapor’s dedication to providing the projects and urged the communities to continue supporting and praying for him.
He also urged the communities to consider the facilities as their own and to adopt a culture of maintenance to ensure their longevity and continued effectiveness.
Madam Gertrude Yentumi, the Municipal Director for Health Services commended the collaborative efforts of Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor and the West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Musah Karim Kusubari in making the facilities a reality.
She stressed the importance of women and children’s health in assessing a country’s progress and highlighted that the delivery facilities would significantly benefit women in the area, reducing the need for long-distance travel to access delivery services.
Madam Yentumi also cautioned against home deliveries and encouraged the communities to utilize the newly built facilities designed to cater to their healthcare needs.
The women from both communities expressed their gratitude and joy, appreciating the dedication and efforts of Hon. Abu Jinapor in realizing their aspirations.
The two facilities are equipped with delivery beds and other essential equipment to enhance healthcare services in the communities.
