Ghana Library Authority holds youth re-imagine engagement program in Damongo.

The Library Authority has on Monday 8th May, 2023 held an entrepreneurship re-imagine project for young people in Damongo in the Savannah Region.

The Ghana library has been a place where people go to read and apply knowledge but in recent times, the authority does not only focus on that alone but also focuses on the experiences of people to empower them with entrepreneurship knowledge.

The entrepreneurship re-imagined program focuses on critical interventions that stimulates individuals decision to become and succeed as entrepreneurs.

It also focuses on building knowledge and skills about the entrepreneurship and training the Ghanaian youth on how to start or operate an enterprise.

The youth re-imagine entrepreneurship  program is to empower the youth through entrepreneurship, advocacy skills, job avenues and link them to online courses to learn.

Madam Angela Osei Gyan, the Head of corporate affairs at the Ghana Library Authority said the had to partner with UNICEF in 2021 to set up youth engagement centers through which10 youth centers were set up in 8 regions.

She further disclosed that, the project is into phases and Damongo in the Savannah Region is among the 2nd phase of the entrepreneurship re-imagine master class.

According to her, the programme targets at those who want to start a business and those who want to earn extra income.

She added that, the training is to expose business oriented minds who want to start a business how to register a business which includes; personal savings, crowdfunding, Grants, investors with the idea of how to write a proposal, business plan, manage a business and how to market the business.

She further Explained that participants were also taken through one of their civic responsibilities which is tax payment, saying the rational for paying tax as a business entity is for the betterment of the business.

Also on the impact of the training, madam Angela said there has been great impact with good feedback from participants as people setting up their own businesses in other regions “some people have set up their own businesses, launched books and businesses” through the training they had from Ghana library Authority.

Participants at the program thanked the Ghana library Authority for such an impactful knowledge and skills which will lead them to establish their business and also use it to raise funds, manage their business and therefore noting that they shall put all they have learnt into practice.
