The member of parliament for Damongo and Minister for Lands and natural resources, Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor has supported the surgery of a spindle cell sarcoma ( growth tumor of cancer ) condition of Kumbayere Basigna Janet, a resident of Yipala in the West Gonja municipality at the Emmanuel Refuge clinic in Tamale.

This came to light when the attention of the Hon. MP was drawn to the health situation of Madam Janet in one of his usual visits to his constituency in February.

Speaking to newsmen after visiting the patient at the hospital in Tamale, the West  Gonja Municipal Chief executive, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari stated that, the support from the Hon. MP did not come to him as a surprise and narrated how Abu Jinapor supported many other persons with various health conditions in the Damongo constituency whenever his attention was drawn.

Hon. musah Kusubari

He said the MP is passionate about the health of the people in the Damongo constituency and that anytime the MP comes across such cases, he makes sure he shoulders them to find solutions to the affected persons.

He added that the case of Madam Basigna Janet came to the attention of the Mp when he visited the Constituency last month and upon seeing the growing tumor on the forehead of Janet, he quickly referred her to he ( Musah Kusubari) to see to it that Madam janet is relieved from that condition.

According to the West Gonja Municipal  Chief executive, Laboratory test revealed  that Janet was suffering from a truncated tumor of cancer which can be operated, then the MP facilitated with the needed financial support for the surgery to be carried which cost him over Ghc 15,000 including medications.

Janet who found relief from her condition thanked all those who a played a role in her times of need especially to the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Hon. Abu Jinapor for coming to her rescue.

Narrating how the surgery has brought relief to her, Madam Janet described the Damongo MP as a God sent to the people of Damongo and that, she has never come across such a benevolent person in her life.

Describing Janet’s condition, the consultant plastic/restructure surgeon, Dr. Ighohwo Etuh said, what Madam Janet was carrying was a recurring tumor in her forehead which was operated some two years ago but kept growing again because  the caused of the tumor was not ascertained then before the surgery.

Dr. Ighohwo Etuh

He said, test conducted revealed that Janet was carrying what he described as spindle cell sarcoma (growth tumor of cancer) before the surgery was carried on her.

Spindle cell sarcoma is a type of cancer that can affect different parts of the body, such as the bones, soft tissues, and organs. It is called “spindle cell” because the cancer cells have a spindle-like shape when viewed under a microscope.

Spindle cell sarcomas are relatively rare, and their causes are not fully understood. However, some risk factors for developing spindle cell sarcoma include exposure to certain chemicals, radiation, and genetic mutations.
