SWIDA- Gh, a Non – governmental organization operating in the west Gonja municipality of the savannah region has on Wednesday, 13th July,2022 launched its bee hives demonstration center at Soalepe, a farming community in the West Gonja Municipality.
The launch forms part of SWIDA-Gh’s alternative livelihoods improvement activities for women farmer groups which the organization is currently working with over the past eight months.
According to project manager at SWIDA – Gh, the sustainable livelihoods improvement project aimed at empowering women was officially launched in October 2021 at Damongo ( Eco club house ) has impacted significantly in the lives of women farmer groups in the area who were mostly trained on bee hives, nutrition management, COVID-19 educative messages, post harvest loses management and revamping of their VSLA groups by supporting them with boxes, passbooks, stamps pads climate change and educating on cooperative registration which saw the registration of over ten co-operative groups under the project.
The project manager further urged the beneficiary communities to take good care of the various bee hive centers as their own legacy where other groups can also visit for training purposes as the project has been implemented in only six district’s including Damongo, mion, Tolon Kunbungu savelugu and Naton.
Mr mahama seidu Bradiso, who is the district field officer for SWIDA-Gh also thanked the women and chiefs from the various communities for the support given to them during the implementation of the project and urged them to take proper care of the hives.
