A cultural project dubbed, “Wuripe Savannah Cultural Festival”, an initiative that seeks to revive the interest of the chiefs and youth in the culture and tradition of the Savannah region was launched in Damongo, the Savannah regional capital.
Mr. Abutu Kapori, Registrar to the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs revealed that the winner of the competition takes home a brand new car fully sponsored by Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge also known as Bole Dubai.
Abutu Kapori explained that research conducted by KAGA MULTI CONSULT into the culture and tradition of the region revealed that about 95% of the youth between the ages of 18 and 40, have lost interest in the cultural and traditional activities of the area.
As a result, KAGA MULTI CONSULT in collaboration with the Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge as the main sponsors, rolled out WURIPE SAVANNAH CULTURAL FESTIVAL (WUSACUF) to revamp the cultural interest in the youth of the Savannah region as it also seeks to enhance community participation and involvement.
Mr. Kapori added that the shall be crowned/enskinned as King/Queen of WUSACUF, presented with a Plaque, a certificate of participation, sash and a hamper.
The winner, the first and second runner ups for WUSACUF will be cultural ambassadors for Wuripe & Sons Royal Lodge with varied projects. They will work with Wuripe until a new season starts.
The winners will have a one-week accommodation with Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge, a two-night accommodation at Zaina Lodge in the Mole National Park of the Savannah region and a trip to Aqua Safari Resort in the Volta Region.
The first runner up goes home with a brand new Motorbike, a Plaque, a Certificate of participation, sash and a hamper.
The second runner up goes home with a Table Top Freezer, a Plaque, Certificate of participation, sash and a hamper.
4th and 5th Participants will go home with a consolation prices of 32-inch Flat Screen TV each, Certificate of participation, sash and a hamper.
Mr Abutu Kapori appealed for support from all stakeholders saying “as a people whom we believe shares the same vision with us, KMC wish to make a passionate appeal to all to support us both financially and kind support to promote and fund the activities of WUSACUF towards a fruitful WUSACUF season-1. No support is too small. Remember, little drops of water make a mighty ocean”.
The program, which is a collarborative partnership between Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge (Bole Dubai), and the Savannah Regional House of Chief’s KAGA MULTI CONSULT was launched on Thursday, 20th January, 2022.
The project was officially endorsed by the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs on the 29th of December, 2021, together with the Savannah regional Minister, Hon. Saeed Mauzu Jibril and is on the theme “Preserving our Cultural Heritage through the Youth”.
The objectives of festival among other things has a motive to bridge the yearning gap of cultural deficiency among the youth of the region.
The festival seeks to revive the interest of the youth in our cultures and traditions, promote tourism in the region, to expose the potentials of the Savannah region to the world and to create awareness on Violent Extremism and the importance of peaceful co-existence.
The Savannah regional minister Saeed Muhazu Jibril expressed gratitude to the organizers of the program and echoed the idea to revamp culture in the region. He disclosed that he had plans with the traditional authorities to revamp culture and urged the youth of the area, especially those in Damongo township to rise up to the occasion and thrive well in culture.
He assured that each suburb of Damongo will be supported to own a cultural group to help promote culture in the area.
Saeed Muhazu Jibril appealed to the chieftaincy divide of the the Damongo traditional area to accept the verdict that will be presented by the House of Chiefs.
He said any function that shall not be happy with the outcome of the ruling should follow the due process and appeal the against the verdict.
Chief Nakwabiwura, who chaired the program on behalf of Bolewura Kutugefeso I, encouraged the youth to grap the opportunity with the seriousness it deserves. He said Gonjaland culture is loved by so many people across the world and appealed to the youth to help promote culture of the area.

the General Manager of NTV – Ghana, Tamale and reps from Ghana Tourism Authority, Center for National Arts and Culture, Mole National Park, Zaina Lodge and
